Adivasi Awaz Correspondence 13May: In a recent development, Adivasi thinkers and scholars came together to form the Writer on Assam Adivasis (WAA). The WAA body was established during a meeting held in Tezpur on April 13th. The key office bearers include Dr. Probin Topno as President, Ms. Grace Guria as Vice President, Dr. Luke Horo as Secretary, Ms. Edlina Kerketta as Assistant Secretary, and Mr. Sanjiv Tirkey as Treasurer. Additionally, the advisory team comprises eminent individuals such as Dr. Virginius Xaxa, Dr. Jose, Dr. Hippoletus, and Fr. Thomas Barla.
The WAA has set its sights on organizing a National Seminar in Guwahati from November 14th to 17th, 2024. As part of their initiatives, they plan to publish books on various issues related to the Adivasis of Assam. To achieve this, they have reached out to several publishing houses, including “ADI-VANI,” for the publication of their books.
Dr. Probin Topno, during a conversation with Adivasi Awaz on May 12th at Dibrugarh, expressed great enthusiasm about the upcoming WAA National Seminar. Over thirty young and seasoned writers are actively contributing research papers for the seminar. Notably,, Adivasi scholars like Professor Virzinus Xaxa, Professor Bipin Jojo and others are expected to participate in the event as well1
